Core 3 Overview
The Core Research Programmes of Mobile VCE are undertaken on behalf of all members and funded from their subscriptions and governmental research grants.
The Core 3 Research Programme extends the scope of the Core 2 Vision and is aimed at the services and interworking of networks for 4th generation mobile systems. The timescale overlaps with that of Core 2 and is from April 2002 to September 2005
Programme Structure
The programme involves about 77 man-years of research effort over a three and a half year period at a total cost of about £3.5M, including roughly 50% government funding. The programme is structured into three work areas
Personal Distributed Environment
Interworking of Networks
Wireless Enablers
As with all Core Programmes, the work is being overseen by Steering groups, one for each of these Work Areas. In addition to the Vision Group, a Systems Group has also been established to ensure consistent assumptions and encourage cross fertilisation amongst the work areas.
