Personal Distributed Environment
This Work Area targets the expectation that as users move around they will interact dynamically with different devices, with differing capabilities, through which they will be able to access their services, some delivered via mobile and fixed phone networks, some via wireless and fixed broadcast networks, and some supported by more than one network.
The Personal Distributed Environment encompasses a User perspective of multiple devices (both local and remote) accessing multiple services via multiple networks, all of which can be changing dynamically.
The topics addressed by the research programme include:
Personal Access Management
Personal Service Management
Authentication, Authorisation, Accounting & Security
The technical issues are:
Inter-working of Wireless and Broadcast Technologies for enhanced service provision
Empowering the user to negotiate his/her service quality and tariffs at the point of delivery
Service delivery to distributed terminals whose capabilities will be location and time dependent
User friendly access to innovative services
