Elective Research
An elective research programme is a programme in which participation is optional – our industrial members may choose (‘elect’) or decline to participate in it.
Only those companies who elect to participate are responsible for funding and likewise those same companies are the only ones who share the benefits of involvement in the research, which is managed in the usual way with contracts arranged by Mobile VCE, and using the same IPR agreement.
Elective research may be a single- or multi-company activity. Where a group of member companies identify a shared interest they may initiate a shared elective programme of common benefit. Where an individual company wishes to make use of Mobile VCE expertise to outsource research, an elective may operate as a confidential single-member programme.
Past and current elective programmes include:
Fundamental Capacity Limits of Wireless Networks
Low Latency Ad Hoc Wireless Networks
Wireless Local Loop Coverage Planning
Adaptive Directional Antennas for Terminals
Ultrawideband Study
2GHz Urban MIMO Channel Characterisation
